Working on 98 pontiac grand am,recent motor change.car will start then cut off?

replaced fuel filter,fuel pressure is good,as i said,car will start,but will only stay running for a few seconds.confused by the fact that the car starts but doesnt stay running. right after motor was installed car ran fine,then outta nowhere it started doing as i described.please help

you should check if the iac is gummed up with carbon or your air filter is restricted.also if you just had the batt unplugged you may need the idle relearned.hold your foot down a 1/4 on the gas and hold it for 5- 10 min or untill it idles.another thing is you could be having a security problem if the theft light on the dash is on or blinking .good luck

hmmm, well i know that when i replaced the engine in my intrepid if i had changed the computer i would have to have it reprogrammed so the VIN's would match with all the other computer systems. was the computer changed? try to get a code reader to see if that can tell you anything.
Try replacing the fuel pump relay. the other mentions here were good ideas too.
Three things make a car run. Fuel, Ignition, and compression. You have at least one of these three not there when this is happening. See if it has spark when it dies. If not, ignition problem. It that is ok, see if it is getting fuel pressure. Either one or the other is not present. That should steer you closer to the problem.
