I am thinking of buying my moms car, well taking over payments, but to do that we need to change the name from hers to mine, does anyone know how much that is going to cost? Approxiamately? I live in NC if that helps. Thanks.

You can't change the name on it without getting a new loan (than pays off the current one).
You have to get approved for your own loan... there is NO WAY around that.

You will not be able to change the name on the loan. The only way to do that is to get a new loan and pay off the old one.
You get your own loan on the car, and pay off her loan, and buy the car. None of that costs anything. Then you pay sales tax and register the car in your name. That costs something.
