When to change car restraint to upright postition?

I have a daughter 6months of age and she is still in the reverse postion in her car restraint, when is it safe to turn the seat around?
When to change car restraint to upright postition?
I bought my 4 month old daughter a new car seat today (we had her in a capsule) and it was fitted by the racq. They told me I could turn it around so it was forward facing when she weighed 8kg- they said it had nothing to do with age. Hope that helps
When to change car restraint to upright postition?
My doctor told me 1 year of age AND 22 pounds. I would also check the weight on the car seat that you have. The longer your baby is facing the rear, the safer she is.
At one year old or there might even be a weight limit. As your local police dept. they will know.
We changed ours around depending on their weight. My daughter was 8 months of age, while my son was 6 months.

I think they recommend by 6-8 months they are turned around.

If your baby is very long, it does get unsafe having her in the reverse position

This is in Australia though, each country would have different rules
dr.s and manufactures say 12 months or 20lbs, but i was once told that if your kid is screaming and crying cause he/her is turned backwards, but doesn't do it forwards, then turn them around. whats more dangerous, the kid facing forward, or you not paying attention cause you want to calm your baby down and get into a wreck
I'm sure this will depend on your local laws and the manufacturers instructions.

In Ontario the law is that the baby must be at least 12 months old and weigh a minimum of 20lbs, but many car seats suggest 22lbs...in my daughters case, she didn't turn around until she was 18 months old! We felt bad for her too...not a lot of leg room back there! lol
1 year and 22 pounds is what our car seats stated if I remember correctly. Look at a few forward faceing seats to be sure. They have weight and age limits on them so that you can buy what you really need!
Actually, since rear-facing is safest for any age, the best answer would be to keep baby facing the rear until she passes the weight limit of the seat. Even then, you could consider getting a new %26quot;convertible%26quot; one. Most go up to 35 lbs.

The %26quot;1 year/ 20 lbs%26quot; standard is a MINIMUM, and you should always remember that. Children have weak ligaments in their necks, and injuries can be much greater during an accident in a forward facing seat.

HTH!!
In Australia it's 6 months old - but they have to be 8 kilograms (17.6 lbs). They also have to have good head control. You'll love it when you do turn her around as you can see them and pass them things - it's much nicer!
You turn your restraint seat from rearward facing to frontward facing when your childs feet hit the seat in back %26amp; when they can sit upright %26amp; hold up their head without any drama's so around the 9 month - 12 month mark unless you have a big baby then maybe around the 6 month mark.

I own a Infa Turn A Tot Deluxe %26amp; have had it turned forward for the last2 months for miss 8 mths but it is still in the lay down position not sitting position.

Good pic on this site. http://www.totstoddlersnursery.com.au/in鈥?/a>

On that site they recommend when baby weighs 9kg's that's when it's safe to turn forward.
My actual car seats say to turn it around at 8kgs
