Well, your EXHAUST, actually...ranging anywhere from a higher-sounding racecar type engine (Nascar sort) to a deep sports/tuner rumble, depending on the type of baffles in the exhaust. If you attach a supercharger, (which costs quite a bit) you can also get a slightly louder sound out of the engine (as well as you'll kill your gas milage).
As far as your engine, not your exhaust, sounding different, short of dropping a different motor under the hood, it's not going to happen.

Maybe I don't understand, or maybe you didn't give enough info. Why do you want to change the sound of the engine? If it is running right, I wouldn't tamper with it. However, there are some mufflers that give a different sound.
